Overlap

Adjacent droplets must overlap in order to provide solid coverage. However too much overlap results in a lot of ink build up -- this build up may lead to ink running or spreading where it is not wanted. Solvent based inks are more likely to run that solid-melt inks.

The amount of overlap is a function of the DPI and the droplet diameter.
