Users who want to process or manipulate very large GDSII or OASIS files often need to know some information about the file prior to actually launching the software that will open or modify the data. GoScan is a highly optimized and lightweight program that will scan through these files and extract useful information including:

 

• a list of layers/datatypes containing data

• the list of cell names

• a list of the top level cells

• the cell hierarchy

GoScan is run using a command line and sends its output to stdout where it can be captured by another program or redirected to a file.

goscan64.exe <input_file>  [options]

where options are:

-h                        show help (syntax and options)

-o:<outfile>              Output file

-pipes                    pipe for progress

-silent                   do not output timing progress/error messages

-byarea                   calculate default top cell by area instead
                          of by hierarchy depth.

-detailed                 produce more detailed output

-sea                      output each structure's extents

-sd                       output structure depth

-dtp                      output layer datatypes

-elmcnt                   output elements count by structure

-keepdb                   do not clean up db (library usage)
